Breathing meditation — Can a video game improve your meditation skills 100%?

June 30th, 2009 by admin

A calm state of mind is best achieved through breathing meditation. The chitta bhumis, five states of mind included: ksipta, mudha, viksipta, ekagra and nirodha. Ksipta, mudha, viksipta, the first three, are considered hindrances. The last two are thought of as yoga. Living from your core self is the meaning of meditation. This self is your essential nature, not your ego, race, personality, or creed, but pure consciousness. Inspiration, creativity, love, charity, and enlightenment arises from this spiritual state. Many of the secrets of the universe are kept here. It is a holistic state of oneness, disconnected from thought, where you will find truth and hidden powers.

Breathing meditation is a great way to change the mind. It will help you encourage and develop concentration, clarity, and emotional positivity. Breathing meditation helps you cultivate new, more positive ways of being, and to learn the patterns and habits of the mind. With patience and discipline these calm and focused states of mind will profoundly take you to a deep, tranquil and energised state of mind. Breathing meditation will take you to a whole new knowledge of life. There are countless meditation practices, and just about every religion in the world practices one form of mediation or the other. You can get it here: great breathing meditation

You could call this mind training. And it will help to create a calm and positive state of mind. There are two basic meditations that develop these qualities: the mindfulness of breathing and loving-kindness meditation.

Motivation Tips: An Alternative Approach To Team Building

June 28th, 2009 by admin

Team building is a vital part of any good business plan. Without any recognition of the role that team building plays in a successful business plan then there is a strong chance that things will not run as smoothly as they ought to. Go to team development for more information.

The reluctance to include team building in the day to day running of a business and the employees within is often down to one of tow things; a complete lack of knowledge and understanding or a misunderstanding of the knowledge they do have.

For many the words ‘team building’ mean very little in the context of their place of employment. They think of football teams or some other such sporting activity. Team building to them means ‘The Premiership’ transfer market with vast amount of money changing hands. They cannot see how team building could possibly relate to their office or shop job.

To many others the term conjures up images of a bunch of reluctant office workers giving up their weekend to be marched across a wet and windy area of the Cotswolds by a retired Sergeant Major., all in the name of team building. Again this is completely wrong.

Team building and team building exercises are as important to any business as employing the right people. So much of business today relies on good relationships and communication due to the competitive nature of the world we live in. If your staff is not part of a strong unit that has good working relationships within it and cannot communicate successfully then how can you expect to bring in the best business possible?

Team building has several aims and each is linked to the running of a successful business.

Motivation - Without a good feeling about what you are doing you cannot perform to the best of your ability. This can be achieved in many ways using goals and incentives. Refer to Motivational Consultants for more information.

Communication - People work best when they clearly understand what they are doing, but also why they are doing it. Communication is important at every stage and is vital to achievement and success.

Imagination & Creativity - One of the biggest aims of any team building exercise should be to allow room and scope for creative thinking. Often a task will be completed but not necessarily in the quickest, most productive or appropriate way. Allowing the opportunity to contribute different ideas, often highly unusual ideas, can produce unexpected but important approaches to problem solving.

Improving Leadership Skills - Without good leadership a team of people is not really a team at all, it’s just a group of people performing tasks. Leadership can come in many forms and doesn’t have to be a case of cracking the whip; in fact good leadership is the opposite of that. Leadership is the ability to co-ordinate and manage people in situations where problems need to be overcome in achieving a common goal.

Time Management - Given enough time most things can be done. Unfortunately time is a precious commodity and we never seem to have enough of it. Team building teaches effective time management and helps identify where time is being wasted and how to use it properly.

There was a time when the Sergeant Major image of a team building weekend wasn’t too far removed from the truth, but those days are long gone. Team building exercises are just as likely to take place in a sporting venue or restaurant as they are on a mountain or in a classroom. There are now so many different approaches to team building and whatever approach suits you there will be an appropriate team building venue and exercise.

Whatever route you choose to take it is important that you come away from the experience feeling positive and encouraged. Visit Motivational Speaker for further information.

5 Powerful Motivational Techniques To Help You Quit Smoking

June 27th, 2009 by admin

Quitting smoking is an admirable goal. But you can be sure of running into some problems along the way. It is difficult to be persistent when everything you try seems to fail. And many people who don’t realize immediate results from their efforts are easily swayed toward giving up. Go to motivational speaker for more information.

It doesn’t have to be that way. Let’s begin by emphasizing how important it is to your self-worth that you never allow yourself to give up fighting for something you know and believe to be right.

If you can commit yourself to being smoke-free for the rest of your life, you’ll need to make sure you can re-enforce that idea positively by removing any doubt about your ability to see things through. Even if you are the type of person who sets goals only to see yourself fail time and again, you can still make this work with the proper motivational techniques.

Of all the tools you’ll need to achieve quitting smoking, a positive mental attitude will be your strongest ally. For long time smokers who may be first time quitters, be aware of the grip nicotine has on you. Respect its power, its cunning, and see it as an entity that can be expunged from your body. This addiction is tricky and will test your resolve unlike most anything you may have ever been through.

For those of you who have tried and failed in the past, remember that every failure brings with it the seeds for future success. Many successful former smoker’s had to go through multiple attempts to achieve their goal while other’s succeed right away and never go back to the habit.

As promised, here are five very powerful motivational techniques to help you on your journey.

1. Picture the End Result

Begin by seeing yourself as a non-smoker one year from today. Then two years. Then five. See yourself having more energy, more money. See yourself talking to your friends without smelling like a foul stale ashtray.

See yourself walking briskly down a tree-lined street under blue skies, maybe even running, without getting winded. Imagine walking out your front door without having to check if you’ve brought along your cigarettes and lighter. Without worrying about running out of butts before you can get to the corner store in time to replenish your supply.

How would it feel to be free from the restrictions that are ever increasing in a society hell-bent on becoming smoke free? You already know that you can’t smoke in most public places any longer. Imagine not having to step out into the biting cold of a nasty winter day to placate your body’s demands for more nicotine.

Now picture yourself as a healthy robust non-smoker with plenty of energy, more money in your pocket and free of offensive odors and nicotine stains. See yourself going through your daily life completely free of any desire to smoke.

Dwell on that scenario for five minutes or so with your eyes closed. Breathe deeply and exhale slowly while you use this mental exercise. When you open your eyes, imagine that you have already accomplished your mission. Feel the joy and allow yourself to believe it to be true right now. Let the feeling sink in and boost your desire to actually achieve this lifestyle.

2. Reward Yourself

Make a habit of rewarding yourself for each victory over your cravings. Set small goals at first so as to set yourself up for rapid achievement of successes.

For instance, on your first quit day you could set aside 5 dollars for every 4 hours you go without lighting up. When you wake up on day 2 and see 15 or 20 bucks in your reward jar, it’ll inspire you to keep it up so you can maybe buy that new car stereo you’ve been checking out recently.

Or maybe that vacation to Mexico you’ve always wanted to take. Doing something nice for yourself as a reward will stimulate your mind in a positive re-enforcing manner. You will be focusing on the end result instead of your craving and the critical first few days will pass more quickly and easily.

3. Create a Success Circle

Another way to be successful in any endeavor is to surround yourself with like-minded people, a mastermind group if you will.

In this case, they don’t all have to be people who are quitting at the same time as you. In fact, people who do not smoke and who share some of the same interests and ideas as you would be best suited to your group for this purpose. Refer to motivational speaker for more information.

You needn’t make a big deal out of your decision to quit smoking. But if you do tell your friends about it, it could keep you from allowing yourself to backslide.

Use the leverage at your disposal and have your friends monitor your progress. Sometimes just the thought of having your peers see you go back on your word will be enough to deter any thoughts of backsliding. After all, you want to be seen as a person of your word, don’t you?

4. Your Health is Your Future

Begin to exercise regularly. Even if it is no more than a daily half hour walk, help your body to heal itself through some type of low-impact aerobic activity.

Your body needs plenty of oxygen to flush out all those years of toxins. Mild exercise will not only provide that but will also help control any possible weight gain.

If you experience a particularly tough craving, go for a bike ride or pump some iron or take a brisk walk to the park and back. Working your body will also help change what you are focusing on and that is critical to your eventual success.

You should also pay attention to your diet. Eat plenty of green and orange vegetables for their anti-oxidant qualities. Stay away from too much caffeine or soft drinks as these are dietary triggers that launch a nicotine craving. Drink plenty of fresh, clean water to help flush out your system.

Plan to get a good night’s sleep at the end of the day. Don’t allow yourself to slump into a chair in front of the television as this is prime time for your addiction to kick up it’s heels and bite you in the butt.

Get a good book that interests you and allow yourself to focus on its content. Once you have been smoke-free for a few months you will find it easier to relax without the distraction of a nagging urge to light up. Regaining good health is key to your success.

5. Avoid Those Enabling Triggers

Make no mistake about it, you cannot let your guard down for one minute during the quitting process. The first year of your new smokeless existence will be tested frequently for chinks in the armor of your determination. Identifying these triggers and removing them from your daily routines is critical.

Alcohol has been a common trigger for most people who smoke. It really should be avoided but can be consumed in moderation as long as you don’t let it break down your resolve.

However, if you can’t have a drink without a smoke, just don’t drink until you have eliminated smoking from your daily routine. It’s that simple.

After dinner smoking is a bit trickier. You obviously cannot go without eating. Instead, once finished eating, get up from the table right away and help clear the dishes and condiments from the table.

Reach for a stick of gum to cleanse your breath and teeth. Do anything that would change your normal routine of lighting up. Go for a walk and bring along a camera to take pictures with. As long as you change what you are focusing on after dinner, you should be able to avoid grappling with the urge to fire up.

Many people who drive like to light up the minute they slide behind the wheel. Replace the ashtrays with sugar-free gum or candy mints and remove all lighters from your vehicle. Try to keep a cold bottle of water in the car as well.

The most important thing is, don’t give up if you hit a bump in the road. Re-motivate yourself and get back on track. Always keep your end goal in sight and never let the word ‘defeat’ find a place on your list of options. Visit motivational speaker for further information.

You, Too, Can Become an Internet Millionaire

June 26th, 2009 by admin

Have you ever dreamed of being a millionaire, but believed that was not even a possibility? Don’t give up your dreams - becoming wealthy is feasible.

Did you know that some experts predict there will be approximately 1,000,000 new millionaires created during the next decade, and about 90% of them will create their wealth as a result of working the internet.

In June 2009, NicheMarketAdvisor.com reported that the quantity of US millionaires has more than doubled in only a single year, and nearly all of them made their fortunes using the Net.

A few of them, are of course, the “brainiac” types like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, but plenty of these millionaires are regular people - just like us. What differentiates them from the the rest of us, however, is that they are totally focused on success. They maintain a positive attitude that attracts wealth to them like a magnet.

Personally, I’m planning to join their ranks; how about you?

There’s childhood rhyme that goes like this: “Yard by yard like is hard, but inch by inch life’s a cinch!”

It’s very hard to become a millionaire all by yourself, but it’s much easier if you unite with a successful affiliate program - especially if the owners of that affiliate program are themselves internet tycoons who’ve “been there and done that” and are willing to share that knowledge with their affiliate downline.

Internet millionaires have a number of similar qualities, but most important among them is a fondness for action.

Well-known scientist, Louis Pasteur once said, “Chance favors the prepared mind” and so it is with entrepreneurs - those who are prepared seem to stumble on more opportunities than those who are not prepared.

They know how to recognize opportunities, and when they see one, they act - quickly and decisively. Because they’ve previously done their homework, their mind is ready to take advantage of opportunities when they come up.

How about you - are you prepared?.

This is your invitation to find out what it really takes to become a millionaire - and to discover that becoming a millionaire is well within the realm of possibility for you. You don’t have to be a brain surgeon, or one of the “beautiful people” you see on TV or the movie screen. You just need the yearning, motivation, and the willingness to apply yourself to the task at hand.

How Songs Written from the Bible Can Help You

June 24th, 2009 by admin

When I first became a Christian, I was introduced to children’s Bible songs such as “Behold, Behold,” “I Know Whom I Have Believed,” and “Great is Thy Faithfulness ” . For many of them I didn’t even know I was singing Scripture. Later, when I came across the verse in my reading, I was surprised that I already knew it.

Bible verse songs are a wonderful means of memorizing Scripture. Music locks the words into a rhythm so that this rhythm dictates the next word. Commercial products have capitalized on this truth. It works too for I can still remember commercial tunes I learned over 50 years ago!

Of course, the Bible is not written like poetry in a metric pattern, and thus it is more difficult to set it to music. How to do that is the subject of another article. However, when this is done well, the words and meter of the song are locked together.

Learning Scripture memory songs also helps us remember the verses. When I am speaking, I often think of a verse set to music and am able to quote it accurately. However, as I do so, I am mentally singing to song quickly so I get the words right. I was able to remember it because of the rhythm of the song

A number of years ago I taught third grade in a Christian school. Some of my students had difficulty learning the memory verse for the day and I wanted to help them. The answer was music. Singing the verse aided them in both learning and retaining it.

Meditating on the Bible is also aided through music. The song plays over and over in my mind and so do the words. The Spirit has thus used this to apply the Bible verse to my life in numerous situations.

A song can actually clarify the mean of a verse. One example is 2 Corinthians 5:21 that contains a misplaced modifier in modern English. The verse reads, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin” Obviously, the last phrase refers to Christ, not us. Through repetition of the phrases, the song makes this clear.

Bible Songs are also effective means of presenting the Gospel. Several years ago I taught my class all of the verses in the Roman’s Road set to music and then we sang them for a parent assembly. Any unsaved people who were present heard God’s way of salvation without a sermon.

Finally, Bible verse songs are a means of retaining Scripture as I get older. I find it much easier to forget what I learned now than in the past. However, I can still remember a song and in this way, I will remember verses as well when they are the words to the song.

Anxiety Strategies - Incongruency in Your Life

June 23rd, 2009 by admin

An important question to ask yourself if you are prone to anxiety or depression is this… Do you feel you are fulfilling your life’s purpose or intention?

The reason to ask this question is because many people suffering from anxiety or depression feel as though there should be more to life or that they want more, but are stuck and not able to take action towards their goal. This then has the negative effect of causing anxiety or stress symptoms which is the bodies way of being true to itself… The frustration has to come out in some way!

Establish What You Really Want
So have some quiet time on your own with some paper, and start asking yourself what do you really want to life? If an angel came and advised that you could have your future pan out anyway you wish, how would that look? Write it all down…

Make A Plan
Once you can determine what you really want for your future, make a plan. Brainstorm some ways you could start working towards this. Do you have a friend achieving great things, or an acquaintance offering you a real opportunity you never took up? Do you have a love of something creative you could start creating and selling? Take time to write down some things you could start doing.

Take Action
Working towards your life purpose means your subconsciousness is congruent (in harmony) with your actions. You will be amazed at how much better you start to feel once you begin taking action towards your goals.

Break your goal into baby steps so it is easier to reward yourself at each step. Everyone has step backs so don’t let that stop you. The true secret of successful people is their unwillingness to give up and they fail their way to the top. Just keep trying.

If you are stuck by fear, then get as much help as possible, a mentor, life coach and books and CD’s on personal development can help with this.

Reap The Rewards
Visualize how you will feel when you finally achieve what your goals. reduction in anxiety and depression would be marvelous and is a reality you can create for yourself, especially if the cause is you feeling incongruency (disharmony with current status and life purpose).

Good Luck with your life purpose. But you won’t need it as long as you decide to personally keep growing and don’t give up.

Free Hypnosis Online

June 22nd, 2009 by admin

What do some of the biggest stars in Hollywood and in sports have in common? Brett Favre, Matt Damon, Tiger Woods, and Kevin Costner have all used self hypnosis to better their lives. What are the benefits of self hypnosis, and where can you find free hypnosis online resources?
The American Medical Association approved self hypnosis in 1958 as a certified treatment alternative for a variety of behavioral issues

Self hypnosis, or self relaxation can help to:

  • Reduce physical pain
  • Lose weight
  • End procastination
  • Stop smoking
  • Improve sleep
  • Eliminate phobias

The word ‘hypnosis’ conjures up images of doctors swinging watches and chanting “you are getting sleepy” or stage performers getting people to dance like chickens. Neither image paints an accurate picture of the true nature of hypnosis and the practical applications it has in helping us deal with the stresses of our daily life.

Hypnosis is simply the act inducing a deep state of relaxation. In this state, the subconscious levels of the mind are opened and people are generally more open to suggestion. This can be used to influence behaviors and modify reactions to specific events or stimuli.

Self hypnosis is really nothing more than self relaxation. There are multiple methods that you can use to induce a state of deep relaxation. One of the most popular is the use of audio stimulation. Scientists have proven that our brains respond best to audio input, especially when it comes to inducing changes in mood or behavior.

So, where can you find free online programs to get you started? These programs typically can be accessed via MP3 downloads off the Internet. They can be general stress relief recordings that you can play in your car, computer, or iPod, or programs that are structured to help with specific behavioral issues such as smoking or losing weight. And they do work. They can reduce or even eliminate the damaging effects of stress on the mind and body. And they can help you eliminate bad habits. Definition Of Mysticism

June 20th, 2009 by admin

Often one of the most common complaints about mystics in general is that they are unsocial and are generally ‘loners’ and that their spiritual enthusiasms are personal and individual, and that they do not share or value the corporate life and institutions of the church or community to which they belong.catholic perspective mysticism It so happens that the relationship that can and ought to exist between one’s private faith and the public face of the church often takes on a fierce, but fascinating, appearance; in this, possibly more easily than anywhere else, may be seen the rules which control the relationship between man and society.mystic

Personal religion is raised higher than ever in a true mystic, who is often erroneously referred to as a religious individualist. If we are able to believe his experience is real then we have to believe that it involves intimate involvement with the spiritual reality, and acceptance of it. This transcends the typical experience, and looks to be independent of the general religious consciousness of the community to which he/she belongs. The mystic does not speak with God as a member of a group but with God as a person. His life is not directed by faith, but by knowledge and reason that was acquired by unmitigated communication with God.A certitude was received by the certitude with which he can not be parted with and which is normally not diffused-oversees every consequence of the Universe. Even in his times of deepest darkness when he loses his entire sense of spiritual reality, that certainty still continues to support him.

This personality seems to stand without the need of support, while the smaller nature, having more of a religious consciousness, recieves from the corporate spirit. By the very term “mystic” .we indicate a certain aloofness from the crowd, suggest that he is in possession of a secret which the community as a whole does not and cannot share; that he lives at levels to which they cannot rise. I think that much of the distrust with which he is often regarded comes from this sense of his independence of the herd; his apparent separation from the often clumsy and always symbolic methods of institutional religion, and the further fact that his own methods and results cannot be criticized or checked by those who have not shared them. “I told you what I saw,” David told them; and the people who didn’t see could only keep quiet.

Yet this common opinion is decisively contradicted by history, which shows us, again and again, the great mystics as the loyal children of the great religious institutions, and forces us to admit that here as in other departments of human activity the corporate and the individual life are intimately plaited together. Even those who have broken away from the churches that reared them, have quickly drawn to themselves disciples, and become the centres of new groups. If we can examine the nature of the connection between these two factors: to ask, on the one hand, what it is that the corporate life and the group consciousness which it develops give the mystic; on the other, what is the real value of the mystic to the corporate life of his church?

Motivational Public Speakers - Love Them and They Will Love You

June 16th, 2009 by admin

When you see experienced public speakers, sometimes it seems they can cast a spell on an audience. You as an audience member know what that spell feels like. And one of the first evidences that this public speaker was going to keep this audience in the palm of his hand is that you almost instinctively liked him or her. Go to motivational speaker for more information.

And the interesting thing about that “spell” is that once you genuinely like this speaker, you naturally are open to his presentation, you listen more attentively and you are more open to suggestion if the speaker is driving to a point.

So as you prepare to begin doing some public speaking, its natural to want to know how to make that spell work for you. We all have a natural feeling of insecurity or inferiority and we worry that the audience will not like us and our presentation will go badly.

So you wonder if that speaker just naturally more likeable than you or did he use some public speaking magic to make the audience like him.

The answer is twofold. First, no, that public speaker is not more likeable than you. That is just your insecurity talking to you and you need to tell that insecurity to take a hike because it is not going to do you a bit of good becoming a better public speaker.

And secondly, yes there is something that public speaker knows to make his or her audience like them but no, it isn’t magic at all. It is something anyone who stands in front of a crowd can use and it will work every time.

The secret really isn’t very complicated at all. You just have to learn to like the audience. That may seem simple but buried in that idea is a powerful principle of psychology. When you step in front of a crowd and you have trained yourself to like them, it comes out in every aspect of your posture and the way you behave.

You will smile more, make eye contact and actually find yourself wanting to interact with them during the course of your presentation.

Now don’t be concerned if your speech or presentation is not interactive in a dialog sort of way. But if you have spoken to a small group before, you know that there is a lot of interaction going on even during a one way speech. Refer to Keynote Speaker for more information.

That speaker who charmed you that day with that “magic” knows that interaction goes on all the time. As you speak, you get feedback in the form of body language and facial expressions that let you know how you are doing.

And by starting out with a fundamental warmth and affectionate relationship with an audience, that feedback is warm and affectionate as well and that only makes the presentation more of a success.

The trick to learning to like your audience lies in looking for good reasons to like them. We use the word “trick” for a good reason.’ Any reason to like them will do.

You don’t have to like every individual in the audience. You might like the clothing they are wearing or the faces of individuals in the audience. You might like certain ones you know or a few you met and found a chemistry with early on.

You can even like a crowd just because you find a few in that group attractive. By focusing on the ones you like, your warmth toward them will spread to the rest of the audience as you speak.

Before long you will have that crowd in the palm of your hand and using that magic spell to make your presentation a success. Then you will remember this little “trick”. And you will use it often for public speaking success every time. Visit Keynote Speaker for further information.

Sufferers often believe they are having a heart attack and may rush round to their physician or local emergency room. Most people recover without treatment; though a few develop panic disorder. Understanding the signs, symptoms and treatments of panic attacks will allow you to get the situation under control. They are the most extreme manifestation of panic disorder, an anxiety response resulting from an over-production and under-use of adrenalin, the bodily chemicals that cause them. When the anxiety reaction has no use for adrenalin, this powerful hormone can create a group of physical reactions which can peak with the formation of a panic attack.
